Many diving resorts, tourist spots and inns are scatterred around each of the neighborhoods, getting to know their location would help you visit many places faster and helps make spots easier to locate.
The first one you will visit is the Barrio Proper or the Village. This is the landing point for the ferries bound from Maya Old Port. Here you can already take a glimpse of what Malapascua has to offer. Clear waters, sunshine, white sands, and scenic views. This is, together with Bounty Beach, where many visitors will tend to stay since there are a lot of hostels and inns in this area.
Barrio Proper is situated on the shores of Logon Beach and behind Bounty Beach, the first two of many long stretches of sandy beaches you get to see. It is populated by many locals who make a living by giving tours or running hostels for visitors. The Malapascua Guide Association, located on the path from Kokay’s Maldito Resort to Bounty Beach, can help you with any inquiries, or preparing a custom tour according to your needs.
Right inside Barrio proper, next to the basketball court, you can find Logon Church, one of the two churches in Malapascua. There are also two Elementary Schools in Malapascua, one here in Proper next to the only High School in the island and one North in Guimbitayan.
Going South you will arrive to Bounty Beach which is lined with many dive resorts and restaurants you can choose from. The roads are quite small and the residential areas are condensed so it is quite a maze to pass through to other neighbourhoods, but that’s part of Malapascua’s charm. Next to Barrio Proper you’ll find Tawigan, Pasil, and Indonación. Three residential neighbourhoods situated along the eastern end of the island. There are a few cafes and restaurants here and most locals in this area are fishermen. There are many fishing boats situated on the eastern end and these neighbourhoods are not as crowded as Barrio Proper.
The sea on the eastern end is home to the Coral Gardens. the locals here wake up before dawn to fish and come back around high noon, throughout the day you can see many fishermen tending to their nets. On the upper eastern end of the island, above Indonacion is Kabatangan. This is also mostly a residential barangay where many locals reside.
Up on the northeastern end of the island is Bool, a rural residential area located near Gugma Beach, a small strip of a sandy beach on the northeastern tip. on this end of the island is the Malapascua Quillano Dive site several meters out into the northeastern waters. Trailing the northern coast of the island is the beautiful Langub Beach. on its western end is Guimbitayan, where you can see the Malapascua Lighthouse, The Lighthouse Dive site and, on the northwest tip, The Lapus Lapus Cliffs. The Malapascua Missionary Baptist Church is also located here which is the other one of the 2 churches in Malapascua.
