Once in New Maya Port you have to take a ferry to Malapascua Island. The trip costs 200 pesos and takes around 35 minutes with good weather conditions, but could take a bit longer if the winds aren’t too friendly. You can buy the ticket on the ticket booth on the pier. Ferries operate constantly from 07:00 am to 17:00 pm. If you arrive after 17:00 you sometimes have the option to rent a private boat to Malapascua for around 2000 php. Just ask the locals at the pier. If you don’t get lucky, don’t panic, you can overnight in Maya at Arriyus Apartell near the port or at Suba Beach Nipa Huts and then take the ferry to Malapascua the next morning. You will also have to pay an enviromental fee of 120 php per person on the building next to the ticket booth.

A lot of people that plan to visit Malapascua also plan to visit the nearby Bantayan Island. If you are already in Bantayan there is no need to go first to Cebu. In that case you have two options, renting a private boat directly from Bantayan to Malapascua, or the cheaper but slower way, going first from Bantayan to Hagnaya port, and then from there to Maya port.
This option is the most convenient to get from Bantayan to Malapascua, but, as you may expect, also the most expensive one. You will have to negotiate a private boat since there is no ferry with fixed schedules from Bantayan to Malapascua. Just ask the locals around Kota Beach in Santa Fe. The price for this private service is 2500 php.
If travelling solo or as a couple with tight budget you may consider this expensive, read below for a cheaper option. If travelling with a group this is definitely the best option as long as the weather is good. The trip will take around 2’5 hours depending on the type of boat. If the weather is not so good we discourage this option since the ride can get quite rough and even dangerous.
This option is the cheapest way to get from Bantayan to Malapascua, but also the slowest. Most likely you arrived to Bantayan with the ferry from Hagnaya port, so basically you will have to get back on that ferry and from there make you way up to Maya port.
There are different ferries from Bantayan to Hagnaya port and prices vary from 240 to 300 php. Once in Hagnaya port you will have to negotiate a tricycle to take you to the crossing in Don Pedro, where you can take the bus going to Maya port, this shouldn’t cost you more than 125 pesos in total, around 75 for the tricycle and around 50 for the bus.
Once in Maya port you will have to take the ferry to Malapascua and pay the environmental fee of 120 php. The ferry costs 200 php and leaves every hour. In total, this way of getting from Bantayan to Malapascua will take around 5 hours.
